Jesus used the word to express His intent to eat the Passover meal with His disciples (Luke 22:15), and Paul used it to express his longing “to depart and be with Christ, for that is much better” (Phil. 1:23). In this verse it is employed in relation to the evil will of the flesh bent on damnation.
